How do I join?

A frequent question we get is, ‘How can I get involved in parish life?’ or ‘How can I join St Matthew’s?’ Here are some ways:

Come along to church

The best way to start getting to know the community is to show up regularly. We meet on Sundays at 10.30 — arrive early to get a good seat & to practice the hymns. We have refreshments afterwards, and frequently a parish meeting or bring-and-share lunch.

Email admin@st-matthews.org.uk or visit this link to sign up to our weekly Mailchimp e-newsletter. It usually goes out on a Monday.

Join the electoral roll

Like all churches, St Matthew’s maintains an electoral roll which is a list of all those in our congregation. If you joined our parish AFTER April 2023 you will need to fill in a form to join our roll. If you filled in a form last year, you do not need to complete a new form. Forms can be found at the back of the church or by emailing admin@st-matthews.org.uk.

Join a team

Want to do stuff around church? We are always looking for people who can be involved with the service itself or in our various projects for serving and reaching out into the community. If you’re interested in any of the following, please email admin@st-matthews.org.uk:

  • Helping in the service: readings, prayers, welcoming, doing teas and coffees, supporting the priest with giving communion
  • Helping out with kids’ ministry: Choir Church after-school club on a Thursdays
  • Helping out with our Community Garden
  • Getting involved with Community Organising
  • Getting involve with a small group for faith sharing, fellowship and bible study
