Spaces for community use
Music groups, photographers, film crews, community groups, artists, charities, courses and private parties regularly make use of our spaces. The church building and parish rooms have been used for fashion shows, film crew canteens, art degree shows, theatre productions, filming and charitable events.
Church and parish rooms
The Church itself has a grand piano, accessible toilet and recently refurbished kitchen. The Churchyard has also hosted family parties, charity fundraisers and filming. The Parish Rooms are smaller spaces with an upright piano, kitchenette, accessible toilets, wet room and a garden, making them suitable for meetings, teaching and social gatherings.

Accessibility and facilities
Our recent refurbishment has delivered a small but functional kitchen, a disabled toilet, baby change facilities and a renovated original loo. This gives us a fully accessible ground floor and allows us to welcome those with limited mobility into our Grade II* listed building.
Life events and occasional offices
St Matthew’s is part of the Church of England and hosts weddings, baptisms and funerals for people local to the area. We would be happy to speak to you about any of these events: please contact us on 020 7739 7586 or at admin@st-matthews.org.uk.
Weddings are available to those who live within St Matthew’s parish or have a qualifying connection, and we warmly encourage couples who would like to be married, or to have their marriage or civil partnership prayed for in our church, including same-sex couples, to contact us. Baptisms are held regularly as part of the Sunday morning service, and confirmation classes are available for those interested in being confirmed, either in St Matthew’s or at St Paul’s Cathedral. There is no age too old to be baptised, christened or confirmed.
Funerals are usually arranged with the family of the deceased and local funeral directors, including English’s (Dignity), Tadman’s, Cripps and Co-operative Funeralcare. We also welcome other significant life events such as wedding anniversaries, gender transition or gender confirmation, memorial services and other life-event celebrations or markings.
